Cape Town - Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has sustained a groin strain and will take no further part in Australia's ongoing tour of South Africa.
The injury took place during the three-match T20I series against Australia, which saw the Proteas lose 2-1 on Wednesday.
According to a Cricket South Africa (CSA) press release on Friday, the injury will see the speedster out of action for approximately four weeks.
The 24-year-old has also been ruled out of the team's subsequent tour to India next month. The Proteas are scheduled to play three ODIs between March 12-18.
"Kagiso (Rabada) sustained a groin muscle strain in the T20 series against Australia, he was assessed by the medical staff, assisted by an MRI scan," said CSA's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shuaib Manjra.
"The significant injury means that he will take approximately four weeks to heal, which effectively rules him out of both the Australia and India ODI series.
"The CSA medical staff will ensure his effective and expeditious recovery."
No replacement has been named as yet.
The first of three ODIs between South Africa and Australia gets underway on Saturday at Boland Park in Paarl (13:00).
