Steyn out of first innings

2014-03-02 12:34

Cape Town - Proteas management have confirmed that Dale Steyn will not bowl again in the first innings of the third Test against Australia on Sunday.

LIVE UPDATES: SA v Australia - Day 2

As it happened: SA v Oz Day 1

Steyn left the field on day one (Saturday) at 14:19, with a 'tweaked' right hamstring.

The bowler would not be allowed to return to bowl for the same amount of time he spent off the field as the team physiotherapist took the time to work on his hamstring.

With the total time spent off the field, even if Steyn recovered, he would not be allowed back on the field during the first innings, said team management.

At the current batting rate, there won't be a second innings for the Aussies.

Is Steyn ever fit for a 5 day game. Aus rolling along nicely, it can either be a Aus victory or draw if SA bat sensibly

Steyn has always been suspect. This is what let's the team down.

Our bowling attack is suspect and the selected guys just cannot function for 5 days. If its not Morkel, then its Parnel, Steyn or Philander. This tells me something is amiss in terms of fitness, match preparation or warm up and warn down processes.

I agree and posted previously that this is why, at home, we must always have 4 specialist frontline seamers.

Maybe Steyn should get a more "manly" tattoo like those Kiwi guys. The girly one he has now is not helping psychologically.

Just like i said after he made the comment about how he channels his aggression .... HE IS NEVER FULLY FIT TO COMPLETE A FIVE DAY TEST .....AND THERE ARE MORE IN THE TEAM WHO ARE IN THE SAME BOAT!!!!

Like Morkel. Sometimes the word "woosie" comes to mind.
