Cape Town - JP Duminy scored a quick-fire 67 from 53 balls to enable South Africa to post 146-7 in their first T20 international against Australia at Newlands.

Live scoring

The South Africans got off to the worst possible start when former limited overs captain, Graeme Smith's woes continued when he was bowled for a duck with the score on 2.

Captain Hashim Amla soon followed Smith back to the pavilion when he was brilliantly run-out by David Warner for 4, leaving the Proteas reeling at 10-2 after three overs.

However, Duminy and Colin Ingram (33 from 28 balls) steadied the ship with a 58-run partnership.

Duminy and David Miller (20 off 19 deliveries) built up good momentum in a 65-run partnership before the South Africans lost the initiative, losing four wickets in the last two overs to reach 146 - probably 10 or 15 runs short of their intended target.

South Africa: Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Colin Ingram, JP Duminy, David Miller, Heino Kuhn, Johan Botha, Robin Peterson, Morne Morkel, Juan Theron, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

Australia: Shane Watson, David Warner, Shaun Marsh, David Hussey, Cameron White, Steven Smith, Matthew Wade, Steve O'Keefe, Pat Cummins, James Pattinson, Doug Bollinger.

Johan Botha,Graeme Smith,Robin Peterson are seriously out of form!Botha and Peterson in that Champions League T20 in India for the Warriors against Somerset the other week looked awful and pathetic with the bat at best and here they still are playing their same old woeful cricket for the national team.Selectors in CSA need a good kick up their backside from someone for foolishly persisting in picking out of form players.

I won't be surprise if an inform David Warner knocks that score off by himself tonight! It would really have to be a howler of game for him not to score big runs tonignt. The guy is producing batting blitzkrieg cricket at the minute with scintillating hundreds in the recent Champions League.
