Proteas call up Kyle Abbott

Cape Town - Dolphins seamer, Kyle Abbott, has been called up to the Proteas' Test squad ahead of the third Test against Australia which starts at Newlands on Saturday.

Abbott replaces the injured Wayne Parnell after the latter sustained a groin injury during the Test in Port Elizabeth at the weekend.

He  will not recover in time for the series-deciding Test.

Abbott is the leading wicket-taker in the Sunfoil Series four-day competition, with 22 wickets at an average 13.09 in five matches.

Abbott comes into the squad as bowling cover for Parnell, while Quinton De Kock remains in the squad as the extra batting option cover.

Ryan McLaren makes a return to the squad after recovering from the mild concussion he sustained during the first Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Graeme Smith, Alviro Petersen, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Vernon Philander, Robin Peterson, Dean Elgar, Rory Kleinveldt, Morné Morkel , Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile, Ryan McLaren, Quinton de Kock, Kyle Abbott.
