South Africa lost the first of three Tests against Australia by 281 runs in Centurion at the weekend and will head into Thursday's second Test in Port Elizabeth searching for answers after Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson destroyed them with match figures of 12/127.
According to Die Burger's website, the Proteas have played 14 Test series since their last series defeat.
They won 8 of the series and drew 6, while also winning 6 of the last 7 series.
The last time the South Africans lost a series was at home against Australia five years ago.
Australia won the series 2-1 in the 2008/09 season and that was also the last time Graeme Smith's men lost two Tests in a row.
Since then, the Proteas have often performed poorly early in series, before mounting strong fightbacks.
