Cape Town - Batsman David Miller has lauded the leadership qualities of Proteas T20 captain Faf du Plessis.

Miller was speaking after South Africa's first T20 international against Australia was rained out in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

"So far I've really enjoyed playing under him as a leader," Miller told Die Burger's website.

"He has a lot of leadership qualities that I enjoy. Especially when the game is on, I find him to be a very calm leader.

"For example, we were under immense pressure when we recently played against Sri Lanka. We lost the one-day series but eventually won the T20 series."

According to Miller, Du Plessis is "very specific" about what tactics to follow and bowlers to utilise at any given time.

"He is still quite new in the role as South African (T20) captain and will grow as time goes by, but for now I think he's doing a good job."

The second T20 against Australia is at Kingsmead in Durban, with the third and final match scheduled for SuperSport Park in Centurion next Friday. Both games will start at 18:00.

After that, Du Plessis and his team will head to Bangladesh for the ICC World T20, which starts on Sunday.

South Africa's first game is against Sri Lanka in Chittagong on March 22.
