Cape Town - Former SA cricket chief Ali Bacher says South Africa's current coaches are the best the team's had since its readmission to international cricket in 1991.

Bacher was also the South African captain when they last won a Test series on home soil against Australia in 1970. The Springboks - as they were then called - thrashed the Aussies 4-0 in a series.
And Bacher told the Beeld newspaper that the Proteas' current coaching trio of Gary Kirsten (coach), Russel Domingo (assistant coach) and Allan Donald (bowling coach) are the best combination of coaches the country has had since they returned to the world stage 20 years ago.
Bacher also feels the Aussies are there for the taking after they were crushed by eight wickets at Newlands last week. The second and final Test starts at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Thursday.
"This SA team has an excellent chance to do what we did (in 1970) and win the series here (at the Wanderers).
"Without Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Adam Gilchrist amongst their ranks and with Ricky Ponting at the end of his career, the Aussies are vulnerable.
"They are in a transition phase.
"I think next year's series against England (South Africa travel to England next winter) will determine who the best Test playing nation is," said Bacher.
