Cape Town - It will go down as one of the most famous singles by an No 11 in the history of English cricket, and Jack Leach knows it.

The 28-year-old has rocketed into the international spotlight following his hour-long stay at the crease with English hero Ben Stokes in the 3rd Ashes Test at Headingley on Sunday.

Leach finished 1* (17), but more importantly he shared an undefeated 76-run partnership for the 10th wicket with Stokes that got England over the line for their highest ever run chase in Test history and a win that will never be forgotten.

Leach's single off Pat Cummins to tie the scores on Sunday was his only contribution to the English total, but it was as important as any other and it will be a moment replayed for generations to come.

On Tuesday, footage surfaced on social media of Leach re-enacting his single on the Headingley wicket hours after play had ended and the crowd had disappeared.

Cricketers past and present lapped it up.
