The Volksblad newspaper reports that a second interview was conducted with Arthur in Melbourne on Thursday.

And according to the website, sportsnewsfirst.com.au, Arthur was on Thursday interviewed by newly appointed Australian team high performance general manager and former Wallaby rugby player, Pat Howard.

A decision on who the next coach will be could be made as soon as Friday.

Australia's current fielding coach, Steve Rixon, is another candidate for the job. However, according to the sportsnewsfirst website, Arthur is the favourite.

Australia's current assistant coach and former opening batsman, Justin Langer, was also interviewed for the position, but does not appear to be a favourite.

The 43-year-old Arthur currently coaches state side, Western Australia in Perth.
