Cape Town - Chippa United booked their place in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after clinching a 3-0 win over 2019 winners TS Galaxy in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night.

The first half was an evenly contested affair and with neither side able to assert their dominance, the referee would signal a close to the opening stanza with the scores still locked at 0-0.

However, the match would spring to life on the hour mark as the visitors briefly threatened to grab the lead when Sizwe Mdlinzo fired wide of the mark.

The Rockets were made to rue that missed opportunity as Chippa went on to break the deadlock just a few minutes later, midfielder Ruzaigh Gamildien netting the all-important goal.

And the Chilli Boys struck again ten minutes later to put themselves firmly in control, Nigerian forward Augustine Chidi Kwem adding his name to the score-sheet.

The home side didn't let up, though, and rubbed further salt in the wounds of their opponents as Chidi Kwem popped up in the 89th minute to bag his second of the evening and put the result to bed.
