Bafana legend Quinton Fortune completes UEFA Pro Licence managerial course

Former Bafana Bafana and Manchester United star Quinton Fortune has completed his UEFA Pro Licence managerial course, the highest coaching certification available.

A beaming Fortune posted a picture on his official Twitter account to his more than 64 000 followers displaying his Pro Licence certificate at a graduation ceremony.

The former midfielder graduated alongside some world-renowned Premier League names such as former Chelsea captain John Terry and Stoke City's Rory Delap.

On the official UEFA website it states that the requirements for the course requires a total minimum 360 hours of education, plus study visits. A minimum 140 hours will be spent studying theory and practical units off the pitch, with a minimum 220 hours, including work experience, spent on the pitch.

The UEFA Pro diploma course is spread out as a minimum over one complete season.

The 44-year-old held recent managerial positions as assistant manager of the Manchester United Under-23 squad and also at Championship side Reading.

Fortune enjoyed a distinguished international career with Bafana Bafana making 46 appearances that included two World Cups (1998, 2002).

At club level Fortune had spells at Tottenham Hotspur, Mallorca and Atlético Madrid before moving to Man United in 1999, where he spent seven years.

At Man United he featured in three Premier League winning teams before making appearances for other English sides Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield United.

Fortune resides in the Manchester area where he still holds close ties to the club and current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who he worked under as assistant coach at Cardiff City.
