Good day and a warm welcome to our coverage of the Nedbank Cup quarter-final between Amazulu and Orlando Pirates from Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

KICK OFF: We are underway at last and Orlando Pirates look to get forward quickly.

Orlando Pirates press high and Mabasa is nearly in on goal. Mabasa tried to pass it in and has seen it cleared off the line by Mphahlele.

Mothwa gets down well to deny Mabasa who is hungrier than the Amazulu defenders and wins a bouncing long ball from Chaine. Orlando Pirates denied but Amazulu aren't in this game at all yet.

The chances to play in the Amazulu final third keep coming but Mofokeng's floated ball is too close to Mothwa who gathers and slows things down for Usuthu.

Mofokeng decides to cut inside this time as Pirates come barreling forward again, however, Mothwa is equal to it and holds the shot.

Mofokeng now takes a touch trying to beat his man as Pirates win the ball back in the final third. He wins a corner but should have done better.

Sikhakhane muscles Mofokeng off the ball to snuff out another Orlando Pirates attack.

Amazulu try tyo counter but they are slowed down and Pirates regroup. Amazulu enjoy their best spell but ultimately a poor ball forward is picked up by Chaine. Mabasa is then fouled after coming back to help out.

Moremi gets in behind and plays an enticing ball in for Letsoalo but his effort loops wide. Pirates are given a wake up call with that.

Mothwa tries to get Amazulu motoring but his ball to Moremi beats everyone and goes into touch on halfway.

Chaine tries to get Pirates going forward but is fouled by Letsoalo who gets a dressing down from the referee.

Ekstein plays a ball in behind and Moremi could be in but Chaine comes out quickly and boots the ball long and high. They come back for an offside call.

Lebitso drags his long shot at goal just a bit and Amazulu try to launch a quick counter but Sesane is present to snuff out the danger.

Hotto finds space down the left but his ball into the box isn't aimed at anyone in particular and Amazulu cut it out.

Mothwa is alive to snuff out a chance as Fielies is caught in possession by the high press. Mabasa is again the man harassing that backline.

The ball is played out as both teams have players down with Mabasa down for Orlando Pirates and Moremi on the deck for Amazulu.

Mobara unleashes a left-footed shot from a distance but his skidding shot doesn't test Chaine. Pirates build from the back once more.

GOAL! AMAZULU, EKSTEIN, 1-0:
Ekstein makes the most of a mistake from Hotto as Hanamub sets him in. Ekstein lashes a rocket into the net and stunning the Pirates' fans.

Pirates have let a team off the hook after a great start again as they give up the opener against the run of play.

Motshwari is down injured and will have to make his way off the field before play can resume.

Sesane lashes a wild shot well over the bar to waste another attacking possession for Pirates.

Orlando Pirates nearly make a terrible mess of defending a free kick as Chaine nearly puts it on a plate as he drops the delivery from Ekstein but regathers before the striker can reach it.

A couple of close calls go Orlando Pirates way with free kicks and Amazulu bemoan the decision. Amazulu are nearly in but Timm was fouled just after taking the kick. Pirates looking sloppy.

Amazulu have a player down injured but Orlando Pirates don't bother playing it out as they pour forward.

Mofokeng aims a shot goalwards and it needs the header over the bar from Amazulu.

PENALTY, ORLANDO PIRATES:
Pirates have been awarded a penalty with Fielies going in on Makhaula, who goes down quite easily and celebrates the penalty award like a goal.

HALF TIME: AMAZULU 1-1 ORLANDO PIRATES
Amazulu appeared to have Orlando Pirates right where they wanted them. However after Ekstein gave Amazulu the lead a controversial moment changed the game again. That penalty will be talked about a lot, especially if Pirates progress.

The goal comes as a real blow to Amazulu who might feel that was a soft penalty.

GOAL, ORLANDO PIRATES, MASWANGANYI, 1-1:
Maswanganyi steps up and sends the keeper the wrong way and slots the penalty.

The second half is underway and once again the half starts with Pirates putting Amazulu under pressure.

Amazulu's first real foray forward in the half ends with a wayward pass that rolls out for a goal kick. Orlando Pirates have the ball.

Mabasa's shot is blocked well and behind for a corner. A rare sight of goal for him and it was shut down quickly

Pirates try to keep the ball in the attacking third but a sloppy pass costs them the ball. Amazulu throw in and play it long but it is collected by Pirates. The teams exchange long balls in an aimless passage of play for both teams.

Ekstein is clean in on goal but Maela somehow gets back to make the key challenge to deny what would have been a great scoring opportunity. Pirates will have to defend a corner.

Fielies is booked after a challenge on Mofokeng on the edge of the area.

Dlamini places a brilliant free kick out of reach of Motwa and Pirates have the lead.

Pirates are nearly in again on the breakaway but they just get a bit too cute with it around the box and Amazulu kick clear.

Amazulu have a free kick and its a tricky one for Pirates to defend.

Fielies gets his head on that one and he pulls one back for Amazulu and what a game we have on our hands.

A cynical foul will see Mabasa go into the book now.

Dlamini has a go from distance and Mabasa glares at him after the effort flashes well wide. The striker was in a better position.

Amazulu earn a setpiece and will want to put Pirates under some pressure from the corner.

Maswangayi catches Dion and gets the free kick awarded against him. Amazulu waste the free kick but Orlando Pirates make a meal of the clearance and Ekstein wins another free kick closer to the Pirates' box.

Chaine makes a meal of some contact from Mphahlele, and the Amazulu man is booked.
