MATCH REPORT - Jadeja clinches thriller as Chennai Super Kings claim 5th IPL title  

The Chennai Super Kings pulled off a thriller as they won their fifth Indian Premier League title after sealing a thrilling five-wicket (DLS) victory over the Gujarat Titans on Monday.

Rain reduced their chase to 15 overs and a revised target of 171 in a match that went into the wee hours of Tuesday morning in Ahmedabad.

A 74-run stand between Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad got Chennai off to a stunning start before Noor Ahmad removed both openers

Ahmad took 2 for 17 as Conway was caught for 47 off 25 balls, while Gaikwad made 26 off 16 balls.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals for Chennai as Mohit Sharma took three for 24.

Sharma was defending 13 off the final over when Ravindra Jadeja smashed a six and a four to steer Chennai to the IPL title off the final ball of the match.

Earlier, half-centuries by Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudharsan helped Gujarat Titans post the highest score in an IPL final as they finished on 214-4.

After being sent to bat first, a 67-run opening stand between Saha and Shubman Gill saw the defending champions get off to a solid start. 

Ravindra Jadeja got the opening scalp as Gill was stumped from behind for 39. Saha shared a 64-run stand with Sudharsan as he brought up his third IPL half-century before he was caught after top-edging Chahar for 54 off 39 balls.

An 81-run stand occurred between Sudharsan and skipper Hardik Pandya (21*), with Sudharsan playing a blistering knock.

Sudharsan fell short of a deserved century as he smashed 96 off 47 balls (hitting eight fours and six sixes) before he was trapped LBW by Pathirana (2/44).
