The motley SA side's courage (in vain) in the second Test in NZ almost made the surrender of a 92-year record worse, writes Rob Houwing.

I don't know about you, but I found little consolation - and much frustration - in heavily weakened South Africa’s fortitude at Seddon Park even as the bigger-picture reality duly set in.

That, of course, was hosts New Zealand's eventual romp (after a battle royale for three earlier days) to both Test and milestone mini-series victory over the Proteas on decisive day four of the second clash in Hamilton.
