South African cricket, once again, finds off-field matters commanding headline space and, this time, the concerns surrounding the future of the game have reached new heights.
A move towards a majority independent board, as requested by sports minister Nathi Mthethwa, has been met with resistance from those currently occupying positions of power at CSA. The minister is less than pleased, and now there are worries that the International Cricket Council (ICC) will be involved and that, ultimately, South African cricket could find itself excluded from the international arena.
It is complicated, messy and absolutely not what the already fragile state of the game needs presently.
