Chippa ready for Wits challenge

Port Elizabeth - Chippa United will be looking to start the year with a bang at home when they welcome Wits to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

The Chilli Boys are on a high following an emphatic victory away to AmaZulu with one of the “Destruction Boyz” (the new signings) grabbing a brace.

The win saw Chippa United move up the Absa Premiership log table following two consecutive defeats towards the end of 2017.

Head Coach, Teboho Moloi has urged his charges not to read too much to champions current position in the PSL log.

Wits currently occupy 15th position on the Absa Premiership log having accumulated 14 points after 15 games while Chippa are in 7th place with 22 points after 16 games.

“Bidvest Wits showed against SuperSport United that they are the reigning champions, and will not just give up. Against SuperSport United they showed their quality and grit and they fought for every ball. They are going to come to Port Elizabeth with guns blazing,” said Moloi addressing the media at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

“History shows that Bidvest Wits have not lost a game at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, and we will have to be at our best. We cannot afford to underestimate them like we perhaps did against Ajax Cape Town and Polokwane City here during our last game of 2017.

“It is important for us to continue doing well at home. It is unacceptable to lose here in front of our supporters and we will give our best come Sunday,” said Moloi.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
