Lights to go out on Springboks?

Cape Town - The lights could go out - literally - on the Springboks as they tackle Italy in Padova on Saturday, after Eskom begun load shedding on Friday afternoon.

"We had to start with load shedding because the system is very tight, but there is not a complete collapse," an Eskom spokesperson told Fin24.

Eskom confirmed to Fin24 that load shedding would start at 09:00 on Saturday, but couldn't provide a finishing time.

PSL and Springboks fans were left in the dark as to whether they'd be able to view their favourite team in action on Saturday.

However, Eskom spokesperson Andrew Etzinger confirmed that all 2010 Soccer World Cup stadiums have power back-up generators, so those PSL games being played at 2010 host stadia would not be affected by the weekend load shedding.

Kick-off in the Italy v Springboks Test is 16:00 SA time.

Platinum Stars v AmaZulu, Royal Bafokeng Stadium - 18:00
