Sadness is written all over the faces of Kaizer Chiefs after reaching yet another low point this week.

Kaizer Chiefs have added yet another dent on their league history in the DStv Premiership throughout the PSL era following their recent poor run of results.

Chiefs have spent this week feeling the pain of reminders about their trophy drought.

Tuesday was doomsday for Amakhosi as it marked nine years since confirmation of their last trophy success.

It was on April 23, 2015, that Chiefs were confirmed as league champions after a 4-1 win over Polokwane City.

Little did they know that they will then spend another nine years (and counting) waiting for their next trophy.

What is worse is that while the wait continues, the situation has dropped down to calamity at Naturena under Johnson.

One point from the last 15 that have been available to play for has left Chiefs with the same current form as bottom-placed Cape Town Spurs.

The form guide – which brackets the last five games – shows that this is the first time that Chiefs have sunk so low that that they now compare with the worst team in the league.

LDLLL is always failure regardless of the club and for Chiefs, the pain goes deeper.

Chiefs have only scored twice in the last five games, with those goals having come in the 3-2 defeat to their biggest rivals Orlando Pirates.

They have failed to score in the last four games, which is an unfamiliar occurrence at the club and only comparable to relegation candidates Spurs.

So, tragedy is an understatement for what is happening at Chiefs considering that they have won just once in the last 10 games in all competitions.

Amakhosi now face the risk of finishing outside the Top Eight, which will be damaging for both the club and Johnson but likely to happen considering the form book.

Chiefs’ next two games are at home against SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns.
