Kaizer Chiefs defeated SuperSport United 2-1 to end their three-game losing streak in the DStv Premiership on Saturday evening.

The Amakhosi went with the same side that started the loss to Richards Bay FC, while the visitors kept Washington Arubi in goal with Ricardo Goss suspended.

Saile repaid the faith 20 minutes in when he pounced on a loose ball in the area after poor defending to beat Aurbi with a powerful finish from the near post.

SuperSport aimed for a quick response eight minutes later and a low shot from a tight angle by Keenan Bezuidenhout drew a solid save from Bruce Bvuma.

It remained a busy spell for Bvuma who minutes thereafter pulled down in his area to keep out the Tshwane boys as Shandre Campbell looked to pounce on this occasion.

Chiefs were keen to add to their tally but were denied in added time as Given Msimango’s header at the far post following a floated ball was ruled out for offside.

The visiting team made a trio of changes at halftime where Lyle Lakay, Siviwe Magidigidi and Terrence Dzvukamanja came onto the pitch

SuperSport were quick out of the blocks and club record-scorer Bradley Grobler hit the frame of the woodwork with the goal in sight.

As the action shifted, Sifiso Hlanti handled Grant Margeman’s snap shot to concede a penalt, which Dzvukamanja converted for his fifth league goal of the campaign.

Rising star Mfundo Vilakazi, who made his debut last week, made another entry with 20 minutes to go after replacing Pule Mmodi with Reeve Frosler in for Hlanti.

Chiefs continued pressing and broke through inside the remaining ten minutes as Mduduzi Shabalala latched onto Saile’s cutback to volley in from the edge of the area.

The Amakhosi were able to hold their nerve following the closing stages and collected the victory to end a three-match losing streak to move back into the top eight.
