HEARTLESS thugs struck in the dead of night, armed with shovels and picks.

They began to dismantle the wall of a spaza shop owned by aboMyfriend, aiming to get inside.

Once inside, they looted stock and pointed the shop worker with a gun, demanding cash before vanishing into the night.

However, the shop owner, Mulugeta Gabure, chose forgiveness over fury and said he's going to pray for the thugs.

"They will see the consequences of their actions. Their deeds were heartless. We, too, are human," he said.

"They were doing it persistently and finally the wall fell, and they managed to get into the store to grab stock. There was dust all over the place," he said.

Eric revealed he had stashed the cash in a condom box as a decoy. However, faced with threats to his life, he was forced to reveal where he hid the money.

Mulugeta said he's grateful that Eric wasn't killed.

"I thank God for sparing his life, but those thugs will see what's coming for them," he said.

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a case of business robbery is under investigation.
