Cape Town - One of the major drawing cards of the upcoming RAM SLAM T20 Challenge is the return of Proteas legend Dale Steyn.

But, it turns out, fans will have to wait just a little while longer before they see the 'Phalaborwa Express' back in action.

The Titans, who Steyn has signed with once more, play their first match of the competition on Sunday when they host the Lions at SuperSport Park.

That match is the main event in a double-header at Centurion with the day's earlier match seeing the Cobras take on the Dolphins.

Unfortunately for the event organisers, it seems unlikely that Steyn will be playing that game.

Instead, his return is likely to come on November 17 when the Titans take on the Knights in Kimberley.

Then, just two days later, he could be in action again when the Titans travel to East London for a date with the Warriors.

Having last bowled competitively in November last year, the 34-year-old has been out of action for 12 months and will desperately want to come through the T20 Challenge unscathed as he plots his return to the international stage.

If he does that, he could come into contention for the historic Boxing Day Test against Zimbabwe in Port Elizabeth - a four-day, day/night affair.

Steyn needs just five more Test wickets to become the all-time leading wicket taker for South Africa in the format.

He currently has 417 test wickets to his name while Shaun Pollock finished on 421.
