Lendl confident in Murray's fitness

London - Coach Ivan Lendl is completely confident that Andy Murray will be fit to begin the defence of his Wimbledon title next week.

Murray pulled out of an exhibition match on Friday because of a hip problem and has not been on the court since practising with Grigor Dimitrov on Tuesday.

It has continued Murray’s injury problems this season after the world number one was hampered by an elbow issue earlier in the year.

However, his coach Lendl insists he is “not at all” worried about the injury and has been pleased by Murray’s preparations for Wimbledon.

“I’m very pleased with the two weeks we’ve had,” he said.

“He was hitting two days ago with Dimitrov and hitting the ball great."

"It’s more complicated when you have bad weather. I thought last year was more difficult because in two weeks we didn’t finish one practice on our own terms.

“We were always chased off by the rain. We had two weeks of uninterrupted sunshine, and even though he didn't play well at Queen's, we had great practices.”
