Djokovic strides through round

London - Serbian third seed Novak Djokovic moved into the third round at Wimbledon with a 7-6 (7/5), 6-1, 6-4 win against American qualifier Taylor Dent on Wednesday.

Djokovic had been involved in the latest finish in Wimbledon history two days ago when his first round victory over Olivier Rochus was concluded under the Centre Court roof at 10.58pm.

The 2008 Australian Open champion was clearly determined to avoid a repeat when he returned to Centre Court to face Dent.

He ground down the world number 97 after winning the first set in a tie-break and had few problems en route to a meeting with Spanish 28th seed Albert Montanes.
