New York - Venus Williams, who has been one of the top WTA players for over two decades, says she has no plans on retiring and is targeting a place in the American team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In her career, the 36-year-old, who is generally regarded as one of the all-time greats of women's tennis, has won seven singles grand slam singles titles, 14 grand slam doubles crowns (with sister Serena), 49 career singles titles and was first ranked world number one on February 25, 2002.

She has also won four Olympic gold medals, one in singles and three in women's doubles with her sister.

In an interview during the TV show Home and Family, Williams confirmed her plans to play at the Tokyo Olympics.

"I'm kind of targeting the next Olympics [Tokyo 2020], and that's in, what, three-and-a-half years ... and I'm not counting," she said.

"Where there's a will, there's a way, I definitely have the will, so I think I will keep finding the way. I feel like I'm going to get more [wins] as the future goes on."

Williams finished the 2016 season ranked No.17 in the world, having won her 49th career singles title when she defeated Misaki Doi in the Taiwan Open final.
