Qualifier Bertens wins Nuremberg title

Berlin - Dutch qualifier Kiki Bertens claimed a straight-sets victory over Colombia's Mariana Duque-Marino to win the Nuremberg clay court WTA final on Saturday.

Ranked 89th in the world, the 24-year-old Bertens beat the Colombian 6-2, 6-2 for just her second career title after previously winning in Fez in 2012.

The spotlight was fixed firmly on Bertens last month at the Fed Cup where she won her two singles rubbers over French pair Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

The towering Dutch player's focus will now turn to the French Open, where she has been drawn against Germany's world number three Angelique Kerber in the first round.
