Italian star Errani fails drug test

Cape Town - A report has revealed that Italian star Sara Errani failed a drug test dating back to the beginning of 2017.

Tennis World USA reported that the nine-time WTA Tour winner tested positive for banned substance arimidex, which is used to treat post-menopausal breast cancer.

There is yet to be an official statement regarding the 30-year-old by the Italian Tennis Federation, but the report revealed the ITF was putting together a team of lawyers to defend Errani.

The Italian last played in the Washington Open, where she was knocked out in the second round.
