Scheepers shoots up rankings

Johannesburg - South Africa's number one female tennis player Chanelle Scheepers shot up to 71st on the world rankings on Monday.

Scheepers, who finished runner-up to Germany's Mona Barthel in the Swedish Open at the weekend, surged 20 places from a previous ranking of 91st.

In the doubles she dropped from 99th place to 108th.

The country's top men's player Kevin Anderson remained in 17th place in the latest ATP World Tour singles rankings.

Fritz Wolmarans climbed 56 places for a 489th ranking among the top 500 singles players.
