Errani into Monterrey Open quarters

Monterrey - Second-seeded Sara Errani of Italy advanced to the quarter-finals in the Monterrey Open on Wednesday night, beating Timea Babos of Hungary 6-3, 6-3.

Eighth-seeded Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia also won her second-round match in the hard-court event at Sierra Madre Tennis Club, outlasting Polona Hercog of Slovenia of 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (9).

France's Kristina Mladenovic beat Russia's Vera Zvonareva 6-4, 6-2.

In the late match, top-seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia faced Pauline Parmentier of France.
