Cirstea tops Li to reach final

Toronto - Sorana Cirstea advanced to her first final in five years by upsetting fourth seeded Li Na in straight sets at the Toronto WTA tournament on Saturday.

The Romanian Fed Cup player, who defeated world No 10 Caroline Wozniacki in the second round, beat China's Li 6-1, 7-6 (7/5).

The 23-year-old Cirstea cruised through the first set before Li jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second.

Cirstea won five of the next seven games then clinched the semi-final victory on the third match point when a mistake-prone Li double-faulted on her serve.

Cirstea advances to face the winner of the other semi-final between top seed Serena Williams and world No 4 Agnieszka Radwanska.
