Becks brings appeal to Qatar Open

Doha - One surprise spectator at the Qatar Open on Friday was footballer David Beckham and Victoria Azarenka admitted it was great to have him watching in the crowd.

Beckham was constantly shown on the big screen in his VIP seat at the Khalifa International Complex, Doha, each time bringing loud cheers and screams from the crowd.

The Belarussian admitted she aware of his presence and said it was anything but off-putting.

"I don't know what's not to love about him to be honest," said Azarenka.

"I appreciate somebody from another sports, a top class athlete being here, supporting our game, I think it is good for tennis, not just woman's tennis, but it also important to feel that support from other athletes.

"I appreciated it, I think it makes it more entertaining."

The former world number one admitted she tried to impress the former England captain, every time he was shown on the big screen.

"Of course I noticed him. When they showed him on TV, everybody started screaming. I tried to show off a little of my football skills."

But she denied, when asked, that she won her semi-final for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star turned fashion icon.
