Azarenka into quarter-finals

New York - Former world number one Victoria Azarenka reached the US Open quarter-finals on Monday with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Serb qualifier, Aleksandra Krunic.

The 16th seed, the runner-up to Serena Williams in the last two years, will play Russia's Ekaterina Makarova for a place in the semi-finals.

Krunic, the world ranked 145, had knocked out Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in the third round and was bidding to become th first qualifier in 33 years to reach the quarter-finals.
