Tipsarevic books quarters spot

Stuttgart, Germany - Top-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia cruised into the quarter-finals of the Mercedes Cup by beating Steve Darcis of Belgium 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday.

Earlier, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain upset fourth-seeded countryman Pablo Andujar 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to make the quarter-finals of the clay-court event.

Garcia-Lopez will next play German wildcard Dustin Brown, who hit 19 aces in beating Benoit Paire of France 7-6 (7/4), 4-6, 6-1.

Another German reached the last eight when Bjorn Phau defeated Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2). Rosol stunned Rafael Nadal in the second round of Wimbledon before losing his next match at the grass-court Grand Slam.
