Tennis pros to play in CT

Cape Town - Jeff Coetzee, former South African Davis Cup player and member of the International Club of South Africa (ICSA), will team up with good friends and former professional players, Danie Visser, Pietie Norval and Peter Jon Nomdo, in an exhibition tennis game here.

The match, with its aim to promote the game in South Africa, will be played at Meadowridge Tennis Club in Bergvliet on Saturday, 21 April.

The exhibition match will be part of a fun afternoon of tennis, organised by ICSA. Participants of the ANYONE FOR TENNIS development programme, of which Coetzee is an ambassador, will also take part in the day’s activities.

Entry is free and all sporting and tennis fans are encouraged to join in the festivities.

ICSA is one of 38 international clubs worldwide whose aims and objectives are to foster the values of good sportsmanship and camaraderie in tennis and promote the game at a regional and international level.

“We are delighted that our past Davis Cup players are involving themselves in activities such as this. It is a great way in which they are able to give back to the game and act as role models to young players,” comments Leonie Grendel, chairperson of ICSA.

“It is wonderful to be part of a group of people who love tennis and have enjoyed the benefits the sport has to offer. We can all play a part in promoting good sportsmanship, goodwill and friendship in the game of tennis.”

Coetzee is currently ranked at No 401 on the ATP World Tour's doubles rankings, while Norval is a former Olympic silver medallist in doubles.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
