Serena v Sharapova in Paris?

Paris - Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova could meet in the French Open quarter-finals.

Williams won the 2002 French Open, while Sharapova is hoping to complete a career Grand Slam with her first title in Paris.

The other possible quarter-finals set up by Friday's draw are: Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka v US Open champion Sam Stosur; defending champion Li Na v Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova; and No 3-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska v No. 8 Marion Bartoli.

In her first Grand Slam tournament since revealing she has an autoimmune disease, seven-time major champion Venus Williams could meet Radwanska in the second round and 2009 French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova next.

Top seed Azarenka begins against Italian Alberta Brianti while world No 2 Sharapova starts against Alexandra Cadantu of Romania.

Azarenka, twice a quarter-finalist, has an injury concern having been forced to quit her fourth round match in Rome because of a shoulder problem.

Na of China starts against Romania's Sorana Cirstea while Williams begins against France's Virginie Razzano.
