New York - Three-time champion Serena Williams wasted little time in crushing Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands 6-0 6-1 on Thursday to breeze through her second straight match and move into the US Open third round.
Live scoring
Williams showed little effect of the withdrawal of her sister Venus from the tournament, firing 10 aces, facing only one break point and dominating every facet of the 49-minute mismatch in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The former world No 1, who has dropped just three games in two matches, will play either Victoria Azarenka of Belarus or Gisela Dulko of Argentina in the third round.
Williams needed just 56 minutes to get by Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia 6-1- 6-1 in the opening round.
Two-time champion Venus Williams withdrew from the last Grand Slam of the year on Wednesday after revealing she is suffering from an autoimmune disease.
