Nadal out with thigh strain

Madrid - Spanish world number one Rafael Nadal has said on his website on Tuesday, that he must rest for ten days because of a thigh muscle tear.

Nadal crashed out of the Australian Open after struggling with the injury against compatriot David Ferrer, and he explained he has to rest up following tests which showed that he is suffering from an 'adductor longus rupture of the right leg' - this according to a report submitted by Dr Angel Ruiz Cotorro.

Nadal added he was undergoing physiotherapy and anti-inflammatory treatments, as well as specific stretches, with doctors estimating a recovery period of "about ten days".

His loss Down Under to Ferrer deprived him of a' Rafa Slam' - a fourth straight non-calendar year Grand Slam after winning the French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open crowns last year.
