Paris - Former world No 1 Amelie Mauresmo has been named as joint director of the WTA Paris Open tournament.
Mauresmo retired a year ago at 30, after a career that saw her win the Wimbledon and Australian Open titles and since then she has mainly been employed in media functions.
But she said that becoming joint director of her home tournament, which she won three times, was a challenge she could not turn down.
This year's edition of the tournament will be held from February 5-13 with notably Belgian pair Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin taking part.
