Kuznetsova ousts Radwanska

Paris - Former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated third seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-1, 6-2 in the third round of the French Open on Friday.

The 26th-seeded Russian will play Sara Errani of Italy for a place in the quarter-finals. Errani defeated 13th seed and former champion Ana Ivanovic of Serbia 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Radwanska was the highest seed to fall in the tournament so far but she had no answer to the all-court game of Kuznetsova, who won at Roland Garros in 2009, five years after she won the US Open.

The Russian moved smoothly into a 5-0 lead under cool, overcast conditions on Philippe Chatrier centre court before Radwanska managed to open her account.

After pocketing the first set on serve in the following game, Kuznetsova jumped out into a 3-0 lead in the second before the Pole took two games in a row.

Radwanska had a point to level at 3-3 but failed to take that and Kuznetsova powered away to move into the last 16.
