Bencic pulls out of French Open

Paris - Eighth-ranked Belinda Bencic of Switzerland has pulled out of the French Open after dealing with a back injury since March.

Bencic's withdrawal was announced by the clay-court Grand Slam tournament on Tuesday.

She will be replaced in the main draw by Lauren Davis of the United States.

Bencic has not won a match since beating, coincidentally, Davis at Indian Wells, California, two months ago.

Since then, Bencic has lost three times in a row and missed events, including the Fed Cup.

The draw for the French Open is on Friday with the tournament starting on Sunday.
