Scheepers crashes out in Paris

Johannesburg - Chanelle Scheepers, the only South African in the women's singles draw, was eliminated in the first round of the French Open at Roland Garros on Monday.

Scheepers was sent crashing out by Mathilde Johansson of France, who secured a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the opening round.

Kevin Anderson, the only South African remaining in the singles competition, will face Russian Evgeny Donskoy in the second round of the men's singles on Tuesday.

Anderson, the No 23 seed, beat Illya Marchenko of the Ukraine in straight sets in the opening round at the weekend.
