Anderson sets up Ferrer date

Paris - Ivo Karlovic of Croatia has stopped playing because of an injury after losing the first set of his third-round French Open match on Saturday against 19th-seeded Kevin Anderson of South Africa.

Karlovic, at 35 the oldest man left in the field, dropped three games in a row to lose the opening set 6-3.

He then was treated by a trainer, who massaged the 6-foot-11 (2.11m) Karlovic's back.

Anderson moves into the fourth round at Roland Garros for the second year in a row, matching his best showing at any Grand Slam tournament.

In 2013, he became the first man from South Africa to reach the round of 16 in Paris since Wayne Ferreira in 1996.

He will face David Ferrer in the next round, the same player who eliminated him at the same stage during last year's tournament.

Ferrer extended his perfect career mark against Andreas Seppi, improving to 7-0 against Seppi, 15-0 in sets, by beating the 32nd-seeded Italian 6-2, 7-6 (2), 6-3.

In 2013 at Roland Garros, Ferrer reached his first Grand Slam final before losing to Rafael Nadal.

Seppi is 1-50 in his last 51 matches against opponents ranked in the top 10.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
