Anderson exits French Open

Paris - Kevin Anderson’s French Open campaign ended on Saturday when he was beaten in the third round by Frenchman Richard Gasquet.

Gasquet, one of five Frenchman to make the last-16, saw off 15th seed Anderson 4-6, 7-6 (7/4), 7-5, 6-4 despite the South African hitting 22 aces and 62 winners.

Gasquet, the 20th seed, will next face world No 1 Novak Djokovic for a quarter-final place.

Djokovic reached the last-16 for the sixth straight year with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over 19-year-old Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis.
