Federer dominates in Dubai

Dubai - Four-time champion Roger Federer reached the quarterfinals of the Dubai Championships by beating Marcel Granollers of Spain 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Federer dominated the opening set and went up early in the second before the 53rd-ranked Granollers narrowed the gap to 5-4.

The second-ranked Swiss star then hit several forehand winners and sealed the win when Granollers hit a return long.

Federer now plays Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine.
