Djokovic to play in Hopman Cup

Sydney - World number two Novak Djokovic will partner Serbian team-mate Ana Ivanovic at the mixed team Hopman Cup in Perth in December, organisers said on Tuesday.

Djokovic, who surrendered his Wimbledon crown to Roger Federer in early July, said the tournament would be great preparation for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season in January.

"I love the atmosphere - you have lots of great players taking part in the tournament so it's great preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year," he said.

"I've reached the finals on two previous occasions so I sincerely hope that now this time, with Ana, we can actually win a trophy."

The Czech Republic won this year's Hopman Cup, with Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych outplaying France's Marion Bartoli and Richard Gasquet in the final.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
