Rome - World No 1 Novak Djokovic has split with Italian clothing company Sergio Tacchini, the firm announced on Tuesday, a day after the Serb lost the rain-delayed final at the Rome Masters.
Djokovic signed in 2009 with Tacchini and at one point owned part of the company, which almost went broke. His family also served as a Europe distributor for the line for which he was the only tennis representative.
In a statement, Tacchini, said that Djokovic had "outgrown" the company, with media reporting that the high costs of the many performance bonuses due to the Serb were more than it could afford. Tacchini said the split was "mutually and amicably decided."
