Azarenka the new world No 1

Paris - Newly-crowned Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka added the world No 1 ranking to her honours on Monday as she took the spot from Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki in the WTA rankings released on Monday.

The 22-year-old from Belarus crushed Russia's world No 3 Maria Sharapova 6-3, 6-0 in her first Grand Slam final in Melbourne on Saturday.
