Melbourne - Caroline Wozniacki beat Jelena Jankovic 6-0, 7-5 in a fourth-round match at the Australian Open between the current and a former No. 1 player in women's tennis, both who have never won a major.
Top-seeded Wozniacki advanced to a quarterfinal against Kim Clijsters, who beat Li Na earlier Sunday, and left the Danish player with a chance of maintaining her No. 1 ranking by the end of the tournament.
Jankovic, who twice held the top ranking, came closest to winning a Grand Slam singles title when she lost the U.S. Open final in 2008 to Serena Williams.
Wozniacki lost the final at the US Open the following year to Clijsters, still her best finish in a major.
