Cape Town - South Africa's Raven Klaasen and his doubles partner, Eric Butorac, caused an upset at the Australian Open when they beat top-seeded Americans Bob and Mike Bryan in the third round on Monday.
Klaasen and his American partner won in straight sets, 7-6 (11/9), 6-4 to set up a quarter-final duel with No 12 seeds Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot.
The upset eliminated the defending champions and the most successful team in men’s tennis. The Bryans have 15 titles in the four major championships, and have reached the final in Melbourne nine times in the last 10 years.
Butorac and Klaasen joined forces in September last year.
