Kia commits to Australian Open

Sydney - Tennis Australia says the Australian Open has secured Kia Motors as a major sponsor for an additional five years in a deal that will extend the partnership through 2018.

The new deal, the value of which was not disclosed, makes the South Korean carmaker the longest running major sponsor in Australian Open history at 17 continuous years.

Kia will continue to supply more than 100 official tournament vehicles each year for the transportation of players, officials and visitors, as well having naming rights to an interactive Grand Slam Oval fan area at Melbourne Park, and the Kia Fan of the Day and Kia Fan of the Tournament competitions.

Tennis Australia chief executive Steve Wood said the deal was a major boost to the tournament.

The Australian Open starts on Monday, January 14.
