Melbourne - Germany's Florian Mayer has withdrawn from the Australian Open after suffering a hip strain.
The 20th seed was scheduled to play Taiwan's Lu Yen-Hsun in the first round on Monday at Melbourne Park.
Mayer will be replaced in the draw by lucky loser Rik de Voest of South Africa, organisers said on Sunday.
De Voest bowed out in the final round of men's singles qualifying on Saturday, going down to Italian Matteo Viola.
He won the first set, but Viola hit back to secure a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory.
